Virtual Dual Credit Academy

Imagine earning your bachelor’s degree in as little as a year and a half after graduating from high school!

The partnership between Angelo State University (ASU) and the Olfen Independent School District can make this a reality for up to 60 dedicated, high school dual-credit students, regardless of where you live in Texas.*

This 100% free program was partly inspired by the transition to remote learning in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and our mission to make positive change to the lives of each of our students.

Reasons why Olfen ISD Virtual Academy may be the best choice for you:

  • Cost of tuition and books up to 66 hours are fully funded by the district, regardless of your economic status
  • If financial need is established, the district will also provide you with a laptop and an internet hotspot
  • This is a 100% virtual program that you can attend regardless of where you live in the state
  • Our staff works internally and with Angelo State University to provide you with academic guidance and support
  • Most of our dual credit classes are conducted by Olfen ISD in-house teachers/ASU adjunct professors
  • The agreement between ASU and Olfen ISD guarantees acceptance from high school into ASU upon graduation
  • Approved students are also eligible to simultaneously complete online courses via Western Texas College
  • District will fund the transfer of ASU credits for students interested in earning an associate degree via WTC

If you can answer yes to the following questions, then you qualify to apply:

  • Are you a high school student and a Texas resident?
  • Are you college ready via TSI, ACT, or SAT scores?
  • Are you motivated and self-driven?
  • Are you interested in completing the remainder of your high school and college courses remotely?

If you answered yes to all of the questions above, then you meet the qualifications and should apply for virtual student transfer status at Olfen ISD.

Olfen ISD is an innovative, small school district located just south of Ballinger, in West Texas. It is recognized as the first school to implement a 4-day school week in the state. The 2020-2021 school year will be the 4th year since Olfen established its Dual Credit Academy by partnering with ASU and WTC. * Finishing a bachelor’s degree in 1.5 years after high school is based on a graduate attending summer sessions and long semesters at full loads. This may not be possible for all majors.
